About hervey bay

Hervey Bay stretches from Urangan in the south through to Point Vernon in the north. Scattered along the seaside Hervey Bay suburbs of Torquay, Scarness, Shelly Beach and Urangan are a series of old wooden piers which jut out from the shoreline. These wonderful landmark piers are now mainly only used for tourism, walking and some of the best wharf fishing in Australia. Many of the "Images of Hervey Bay" photographs feature these unique piers as a backdrop in their spectacular glory.

To the north of Hervey Bay are the beautiful quiet seaside villages of Dundowran, Craignish, Toogoom and Burrum heads. To the south is the Fraser Island Ferry port of River Heads.

The protected waters of Hervey Bay attract the great humpback whale and every year from July through November. Hervey Bay is host to these whales as they frolick and play in the calm waters.
